To change the look of the line, double-click the line in the document. In the Paragraph group, select the Borders drop-down arrow and choose Horizontal Line. Hold the Shift key to draw a straight horizontal line. By default, the Home tab is selected when you open a new or existing Word document. Click and drag from left to right on the page to create the base of the timeline. Usually I find the line is a part of the header or footer, but has been positioned to the middle of the document. Place the cursor where you want to insert a line. The result is a line based on the characters you typed. All you need to do is start at the left margin of a new line, type at least three characters, and then press Enter. Now for the area you identified you’ll need to work through all the formatting to remove the line. Word includes a sometimes-helpful little feature that allows you to add lines in your documents, without removing your fingers from the keyboard. You can then use Ctrl + Z to undo the delete and return your document contents. If any of these steps moved the line, then you know where the line is – that is, it’s in the header, the footer or the content.
Open the header, use Ctrl + A to select all then click ‘Delete’ on the keyboard.
